Building Survey, Charmouth/Lyme Regis
When carrying out surveys in and around the Charmouth and Lyme Regis area, our survey reports will consider cliff erosion and underlying geology matters. Properties located near the coastline and cliff areas in this locality can be at risk, particularly from landslide events, bearing in mind parts of this coastline form the largest landslip and mud flow complex in Europe. Landslip and cliff erosion in this locality is still active and ongoing in places. For parts of the coastline, the management policy up to 2025 is to allow natural coastal evolution to continue, with no active intervention. As a result, gardens and even main buildings situated close to this active landslip/cliff erosion area are at risk of falling into the sea in the next 20-50 years approximately. Clients should seek advice on these matters before purchase.
